Cookbook and lifestyle publisher, Page Street Publishing Co., distributed by Macmillan, is looking for a bright, savvy, detail-oriented, publicist with at least two years of experience. A successful candidate will develop creative marketing and promotion programs, see new PR opportunities online, run full publicity campaigns for a set number of titles, and find other new and exciting ways to get the word out about Page Street’s books and authors. This person will report to the Public Relations Manager.
The right candidate should be passionate about connecting with new audiences, an enthusiastic storyteller and experienced writer, and an excellent multi-tasker. Interest in cooking and/or other lifestyle topics would be a plus but not essential. Previous work in a bookstore, library or other ventures involving books hold as much merit as previous publishing internships, which will not be considered a competitive advantage to be fair to candidates who have not had the access or financial privilege to take on this form of work. Please address these qualities in your cover letter. We strongly encourage BIPOC and other self-identifying members of groups underrepresented in publishing to apply.
The salary is $40,000 annually, with yearly reviews. Benefits include a highly competitive 80% of healthcare policy coverage, work-from-home Wednesdays and a healthy personal time off policy. At this time, our team is continuing to work remotely due to Covid-19, however, candidates may be required to relocate to the Greater Boston area in the future. Page Street offers an intellectually stimulating publishing environment for books lovers combined with many other advantages of modern startups not normally found in traditional publishing as well as more flexibility for a better overall lifestyle.
Page Street Publishing Co. is located in Salem, Massachusetts, about 25 miles north of Boston and walking distance from the train station. We publish over one hundred and forty titles a year spanning the range of lifestyle subjects, including cooking, health, parenting, craft, gardening, fitness, children’s and young adult. Page Street is distributed by Macmillan everywhere except Canada, where Manda handles sales and PGC handles distribution.
Please send a resume and cover letter to email@example.com. Please include “Publicist” in the subject of your email.
