What’s it like to be an up-and-coming editor at a trade or university press? Is too much focus put on acquiring the books rather than helping the author to craft them? With books being crashed onto lists for the sake of timeliness or revenue and support staff at a bare minimum, is there actually time to edit anymore? With emails coming in and phones ringing constantly, is it even possible to edit at the office these days, or is editing the new homework? We’ll get the skinny from editors at Appalachian Mountain Club Books, Beacon Press, Da Capo Press, Harvard University Press, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and The MIT Press.
Admission is free. Registration is requested but not required.
