Communications Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:

Cheng & Tsui Company, leading publisher of Asian languages and cultures educational materials located in downtown Boston, is looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and committed Communications Specialist to conceptualize and develop effective promotional copy for multi-channel marketing collateral. Candidates must demonstrate a versatile writing style capable of achieving the necessary voices for multiple audiences, while conveying the company mission of Bringing Asia to the World". Responsibilities include developing multi-channel product promotional materials from conception to completion. Firm deadlines, quick turnaround times, and fluctuating work loads are common for this position; the ideal candidate will be able to handle these changes with confidence.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
" Conceptualize and execute in a timely manner through cross-functional team collaborations multiple-channel promotional campaigns consisting of catalog and targeted direct mail, email blasts, web site e-commerce, listserv announcements, press releases, newsletters, conference brochures and flyers, and space advertising.
" Collaborate closely with the Editorial and Sales departments for product information needs and product benefits that reflect real customer needs.
" Conceptualize and write engaging product positioning copy for print and digital/online marketing collateral reflecting key selling points and pedagogical strengths.
" Compose and distribute press releases and e-newsletters related to new product releases, awards, success stories, and other newsworthy events.
" Work with internal teams and outside vendors, as necessary, for services such as promotional design needs, mailing lists, and email blasts /tracking services.
" Manage catalog design and production including scheduling, product placement, pagination, layout, and proofing. Oversee database selection, processing, and mailing.
" Help design Home Page of new website and continuing with creating new ones regularly and routinely.
" Help develop special web site features of interest to teachers and students to drive web traffic.
" Help create regular attractive monthly offers to drive web sales.
" Update and freshen the web site messaging regularly to improve utility.
" Help with social media plans including social media outlets and viral campaigns.
" Collaborate with sales force to develop sales tools such as concise product tip sheets for use during sales calls.
" Accomplish all campaigns within agreed upon budgets, always seeking competitive bids for outside services.
" Organize and manage competitive information & relevant industry information/trends.
" Be responsible for putting together all textbook adoptions bids for submission.
" Collaborate on the formulation of annual marketing plan.

Required Experience:

" Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience
" Proficient use of MS Office Suite products (MS-Word/MS-Excel/MS-PowerPoint/MS-Access) and Adobe Creative Suite, plus HTML for web design
" Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications together with attention to detail
" Direct relevant marketing experience to include project management and creative and effective marketing materials design in all media, preferably in educational publishing
" Strong planning, organizational, and time-management skills to handle multi-tasking position
" Persuasive and collaborative interpersonal skills for effective project coordination
" Experience with web content/user interface design and related technologies
" Strong interest and commitment to our mission in Asian languages and cultures needed to master product knowledge required for effective messaging
