Manager, Online Ad Trafficking

Short Description:

Manages department responbile for implementing online advertising programs and services for the New England Journal of Medicine and NEJM's physician recruitment web site.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Massachusetts Medical Society, publisher of The New England Journal of Medicine and Journal Watch publications, is looking for an experienced leader for its Online Advertising Trafficking team.

The new manager will implement online advertising programs and services for the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal Watch and NEJMs physician recruitment web site.

The Online Ad Trafficking Manager will work closely with the Director and other department managers to develop and execute advertising sales strategy, workflow, reporting and support functions in order to grow online and recruitment advertising revenues.

Specific duties include the following:


" As a member of the CareerCenter Steering Team, strategizes new products, functionality and business initiatives to maximize revenue opportunities.

" Supervises two team members.

" Ensures effective inputting of ad campaigns, overseeing daily activities of sales traffickers including their interacting with sales reps and ad agency personnel, re-striking Insertion Orders and optimizing campaigns. Also, ensures that all online advertising products are served, billed and reported correctly and that monthly ad campaigns are executed properly and inventory management is maximized.

" Manages the NEJM CareerCenter web site, including contact with vendors around both transient and long-term issues.

" Works with sales representatives to ensure that insertion orders are accurately captured, managed and billed, and that the appropriate inventory targets are recorded and disseminated.

" Stays current on job board technologies and platforms to bring best practices to the NEJM CareerCenter platform.

" Collaborates with internal product teams to support new advertising-supported products/services.

" Initiates or responds to customers including advertising agencies as necessary.

" Troubleshoots ad-serving issues with CheckM8 (vendor) and other third-party ad-serving services.

" Acts as primary liaison between Product Management teams and sales to support online sales initiatives for nejm.org, jwatch.org, nejmjobs.org and other MMS products.

" Defines best practices Close coordination with finance and product management groups for new products/enhancement.

" Participates in strategy sessions and other planning meetings with business units as required. Schedules meetings as needed between CheckM8 Core Team Users and business units.

" Works with management teams to continuously research new technologies and how to offer them as internal services.

" Stays current with industry technology to drive new products/enhancements and online advertising sales opportunities. Key member of implementation and execution teams.

Required Experience:

The ideal candidate will have:

" Three to five years experience working in sales operations in the online advertising industry

" BA/BS in marketing/advertising/communications or technical fields and/or equivalent experience

" Strong knowledge of the online advertising industry, trends, technologies and pricing models.

" Demonstrated knowledge of online ad serving systems.

" Demonstrated understanding of campaign metrics and analysis.

" Customer focused with good vendor management skills. Must be detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

" Strong organization, supervisory, and time management skills.

" Strong analytical capability, attention to detail.

" Experience with web/internet technologies and third-part ad serve companies (Atlas, DoubleClick) a plus
