Short Description:
Elsevier is currently seeking a Production Editor in our Burlington, MA Office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
We currently seek a Production Editor (Project Manager) who can work self-sufficiently on complex projects to deliver quality service to book publishing business, offering flexibility and a problem-solving approach to the post-transmittal phase of book and media projects. Includes estimating, scheduling, and manufacturing liaison for book and media projects. Source/commission/supervise freelance copyeditors and proofreaders, assign vendors, monitor progress of vendors and authors, check accuracy and quality of final data for press. Keep author informed of progress of project, offer author general guidance on production process, communicate with Editorial, Design, compositors, manufacturers, other production personnel. Work closely with publishing teams on his/her projects, ensure up-to-date, accurate production information in production system, keep Publishing Services Manager accurately informed of status/progress of projects.
Required Experience:
Customer focus, excellent communication skills, excellent grammar and spelling skills, analytical ability, problem-solving ability, mathematic capability. Skilled use of MS Word, working knowledge of MS Excel. College degree or equivalent mix of education and experience.
