Duties and Responsibilities:
Description Acquires, develops, and manages a commercially attractive Life Science textbook list including new titles, revisions, adaptations and related ancillaries, to meet revenue and profit goals. Activities will include developing and maintaining a network of high quality contacts to drive development of the publishing program, acquiring textbooks and all related ancillaries, negotiating author and editor contracts, managing the transmittal process to book production, working effectively with marketing and sales to promote products successfully, and budget management. Will also support our work towards increased use of electronic media. Involves travel up to 20% of time.
Required Experience:
Qualifications Bachelor's degree, and a minimum of 3-5 years publishing acquisitions experience with proven acquisitions success. Specific knowledge of the market and key book titles in subject matter area is strongly preferred, as is ability to construct and analyze publishing financial models. Must have superb communication skills, strong organizational skills, be results driven, and have customer and market focus as well as creative/innovative attitude.
