Humanities Financial Analyst

Duties and Responsibilities:

We have an exciting opportunity to join Pearson Curriculum as a Financial Analyst. Pearson Curriculum includes all publishing operations for Pearsons line of pre-K through 12 educational products. This position will reside in the Boston, MA offices.

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
" Partnering with management in the development of publishing plan pro forma financials to support investments in new Curriculum Group programs, products, and services.
" Developing financial and operational reports to help company leadership team analyze and interpret business trends, both to provide a basis for strategic decisions and to help improve operating performance.
" Guide Product Line Directors through all financial aspects of the pro forma P&L while preparing revenue models showing market enrollment, selling price, buy pattern and market share.
" Working closely with the Finance Manager  Plant , assisting in capital spend (plant) budgeting, maintaining program forecasts, tracking actual spend to budget, and preparing other plant related analysis that might be necessary.
" Update program P&L on a quarterly or as needed basis. Share results with Product line Directors and make recommendations for overall financial improvements where appropriate. Being proactive, promptly raise issues that will negatively impact overall program results to Product Line Directors. Maintain divisional program financial O.I. and cash goals.
" Maintaining, evaluating, reporting, and recommending action on metrics/benchmarks, dashboards and performance scorecards, and opportunities for efficiencies
" Assisting in the completion of forecasts and annual strategic business plans.

Required Experience:

Qualifications for this position include:

" Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification and/or MBA preferred
" 3 to 5 years experience in budgeting, forecasting, pro forma business plan modeling, and financial analysis with a solid knowledge of business planning and techniques for evaluating and implementing new business strategies
" Successful experience using Hyperion / SAP preferred
" Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to present to all levels of management
" Strong organizational and communication skills
" Demonstrated ability to manage broad array of responsibilities while working effectively with different departments/functions.
" Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Advanced MS Excel skills required; Working knowledge of MS Access with the ability to develop basic database models preferred)
