An excellent opportunity to break into the field of publishing! Our interns provide essential support to Editorial Assistants in our Social Sciences and Humanities books publishing program while gaining valuable experience and training.

John Wiley & Sons, Inc. is conveniently located in the center of Malden MA, near the Malden orange line T-station. Wiley offers a casual atmosphere, a convenient location and free office parking.
Interns will work alongside Editorial Assistants in the Books Editorial Department and, with training and direction, will be provided the opportunity to take on a variety of tasks and projects including corresponding with scholars in the field, preparing manuscripts for review and cast off, updating our databases, drafting contracts, arranging for contributor and reviewer payments, and performing market research. The interns will work with editorial, marketing and production colleagues within their subject team, and will have the opportunity to see the process a book goes through from the initial proposal to the final product. Wiley-Blackwell will foster the professional development of interns who participate in this program by offering new learning opportunities including skills training, informal mentoring, and a series of in-house seminars showcasing potential career paths in publishing.
Required Experience:
Our ideal candidate has excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and can perform work with careful attention to detail. He or she has the desire and ability to work and communicate successfully with a wide variety of people across countries, cultures, and disciplines. He or she should be extremely well organized, and prepared to provide administrative support on a large number of book projects. It is necessary that our interns be proficient in the use of MS Word and Excel, and be comfortable conducting online research. A demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in publishing is a real plus.
Salary/Hours:
30 hours per week / $10 hr.
